Full-Time ColdFusion Developer

Full-Time ColdFusion Developer About PayClix Established in 2004, PayClix is a U.S.-based small business specializing in online payment processing. We serve merchants across the United States and Canada, offering secure, efficient, and customizable payment solutions. Our platform supports a wide range of payment types, including credit card transactions, eCheck (ACH, EFT), and scheduled recurring payments. Our clients span multiple industries, including municipal water and sewer utilities, insurance providers, and property management companies. We integrate with payment gateways to deliver flexible and reliable services to our merchants. Our current platform runs on ColdFusion 2016 with a Microsoft SQL Server backend. While functional, our legacy codebase—originally developed in a procedural style—lacks the modularity needed for rapid feature development. Our long-time developer has significantly stabilized and modernized the platform using object-oriented practices, but is no longer available to support our needs full time. Position Overview We are seeking a Full-Time ColdFusion Developer to join our team and take ownership of the technical evolution of our platform. This is a remote position open to candidates based in the U.S. or Canada, preferably within Eastern or Pacific time zones. Initial Phase: Gain a strong understanding of the current codebase and infrastructure. Set up a fully functional staging server to mirror production and support safe development, versioning (GitHub) and testing workflows. Modernization Phase: Lead the migration to the latest version of ColdFusion. Refresh and modernize the platform’s user interface (UI) for improved performance and user experience. Ongoing Responsibilities: Collaborate with the team on continuous feature development, bug fixes, and system enhancements. Contribute to codebase cleanup and refactoring for better maintainability. Act as the long-term technical lead, providing strategic input on development priorities and system improvements.
