Email Marketing Specialist (Contract or Freelance) Location: Remote / Hybrid (Washington, DC Metro preferred) Start Date: Immediate Reports to: Director of Marketing Overview: The St. James is seeking an experienced and proactive Email Marketing Specialist to lead and execute our transition from MailChimp to HubSpot while immediately supporting the creation and deployment of email campaigns across our sports, membership, and lifestyle verticals. This role requires a hybrid of strategic thinking, hands-on execution, and performance-driven optimization. Key Responsibilities: Lead the technical migration of all contacts, automations, templates, and data from MailChimp to HubSpot. Build and deploy solo emails, newsletters, and multi-step email journeys for targeted audiences. Collaborate with marketing, creative, and business unit leads to translate goals into actionable email content and sequences. Segment audiences by lifecycle stage, engagement, and product interest to drive relevance and performance. Maintain brand voice and visual consistency across all communications. Report on key performance metrics (open rates, clickthroughs, conversions) and recommend optimizations. Ensure compliance with email regulations (CAN-SPAM, GDPR) and manage list hygiene best practices. Qualifications: 3+ years of hands-on experience in email marketing, ideally in both MailChimp and HubSpot. Proven ability to create and manage email automations, A/B tests, and data-driven content personalization. Strong understanding of customer segmentation, CRM integration, and lifecycle marketing.
