We're looking for a Research Scientist who’s passionate about leveraging data to change the world, one dataset at a time. Position Overview The Research Scientist will drive the analysis and interpretation of complex survey-based research datasets that support RoC’s groundbreaking research initiatives. Reporting directly to the Director of Research, you’ll lead statistical analyses for peer-reviewed publications, grant applications, and internal strategy. We’re looking for someone who’s equally at home scripting advanced models, working with large messy datasets, and translating stats into insights that can shift public health and medical perspectives. Key Responsibilities Data Strategy & Analysis: Design, build, and execute data analysis plans for cross-sectional, longitudinal, and observational studies. Assist in the design of survey-based studies in Qualtrics and/or REDCap Apply advanced statistical methods (multivariate modeling, time-to-event analysis, machine learning) to biomedical and social science research data (quantitative and qualitative). Collaborate with team members to identify analytical opportunities that support research questions and hypotheses from existing datasets. Scientific Writing & Dissemination: Prepare manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals (methods & results), research reports, technical summaries, and conference abstracts. Translate analytical results into actionable insights for both technical and lay audiences. Present data at conferences. Data Management: Develop and maintain reproducible workflows for data cleaning, management, and analysis. Ensure compliance with data governance policies, IRB protocols, and privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR). Collaboration & Mentoring: Mentor junior research staff and interns in data science best practices. Serve as a thought partner in designing new research projects and strategic initiatives. Qualifications Ph.D. in Data Science, Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Psychology, or a closely related field. U.S. Citizen or Green Card Holder Expertise in Python or R for data science and machine learning Solid understanding of observational research methodologies and limitations Experience managing and analyzing large and/or complex datasets (e.g., Qualtrics, REDCap, EHRs, survey platforms). Publication record or equivalent evidence of scientific productivity. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Passion for cannabinoid research, integrative health, and patient-centered science is a huge plus. Preferred Qualifications Experience with advanced data analysis and machine learning methods. Background in health-related research areas such as chronic illness, mental health, neurology, or oncology. Familiarity with clinical trial design and regulatory standards is a bonus. Knowledge of AWS
