Energy Modeling
Nichols Engineering is seeking a long-term team member to join or Mechanical Engineering / Energy Team. The ideal candidate will lead energy modeling efforts and provide energy modeling for multifamily projects utilizing Carrier Hap and/or Open Studio. - Must be US or Canada based - Weekly (or monthly) time need: Varies greatly - Energy Modeling Needs sent via email - Hourly Rate: $25-$75 Projects may be in pursuit of LEED or Localized Green Building Ratings that utilize a performance based comparison of baseline and proposed buildings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Assist in data collection for energy modeling as an active team member. * Identify ways in which our company process can be improved. * Provide model, reporting, and summary energy performance XLS files that vary per rating system. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities *Ability to input data with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. *Competency of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access), including the filters, formulas, formatting, charts, and graphs. *Advanced understanding of working with PDF documents, Understanding of construction drawings, including the ability to read drawings and follow continuations as identified. *Understanding of document management, tracking, and processing. *Skills and ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and professionally with internal team members. *Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/tasks. *Ability to maintain professionalism with peers in a deadline driven environment. *Assertive personality. *Excellent oral and written communication skills. Minimum Requirements *Native or Fluent in English *Ability to research Building Codes and Local Requirements; resources will be made available. *3 years experience in Building Performance Energy Modeling *Experience modeling building energy consumption using OpenStudio and/or Carrier HAP You will be asked to answer the following questions when submitting a proposal: 1. How many multi-family (apartment) buildings have you modeled using OpenStudio and/or Carrier Hap? 2. On a 1 to 10, 10 being expert, what is your skill level modeling within OpenStudio and Carrier Hap? 3. What Green Building rating systems are most familiar to you?
