Machine Learning Engineer to Build Adaptive AI System (LLMs + SMS Integration)
We’re an early-stage AI-powered consumer health tech startup helping people make better daily decisions around food, wellness, and lifestyle — all in a simple, accessible way. We’ve completed early testing and are now entering Phase 2: building the adaptive engine and real-time delivery system that powers the core experience. What we need: A Machine Learning Engineer who can: - Design and train LLMs to support lightweight personalization - Build behavior-driven logic or a simple recommendation system - Integrate messaging via APIs like Twilio (or similar SMS tools) - Collaborate closely with a small, fast-moving team Skills we’re looking for: - Python - Machine Learning / NLP / LLM fine-tuning (e.g. Hugging Face, PyTorch, or TensorFlow) - Experience with recommendation systems or behavior modeling - API integration (Twilio or similar) - Backend familiarity (Node.js, Firebase, or Supabase is a plus) How we work: We’re lean, async, and move fast. Communication will be handled directly here on Upwork and through occasional quick calls. We’re currently scoping this as a 1–3 month engagement, with potential to expand into something longer-term if it’s the right fit.
