Researcher: Identify Blown Film Extrusion Site for R&D Use (Polymer Processing)
Job Description We’re a startup building control software for polymer extrusion, and we need help identifying potential R&D partner sites for real-world blown film testing. We’re looking for a resourceful researcher to find 10–15 U.S.-based facilities (academic or commercial) that operate lab- or pilot-scale blown film extrusion lines with the ability to log real-time process data. We will provide a list of already known sites. We need other options. *** Knowledge of plastics R&D in USA is a big plus *** *** MUST BE IN USA - DO NOT RESPOND IF YOU ARE NOT *** What you’ll do: Identify candidate facilities that operate blown film extrusion lines Research and verify: - If the site supports data logging (CSV export, SCADA, OPC-UA) - Key metrics they track (e.g., screw speed, melt temp/pressure, etc.) - Whether they allow short-term R&D use or external projects - Deliver results in a clear, organized table (e.g., Google Sheet or Excel) What we’re looking for: - Strong web research skills (including universities, labs, trade orgs, vendors) - Familiarity with manufacturing, plastics, or R&D centers (a MAJOR plus) - Organized and responsive communicator Deliverables: - You’ll provide a spreadsheet that includes: - Facility name and website - City/state - Contact person (ideally with email or phone) - Equipment description (line size, sensors/instrumentation) - Data access/logging capability (e.g., OPC, SCADA, CSV) - Whether they accept external trial use (fee-for-service, etc.) - Any known cost or usage notes Timeline & Budget: Budget: Fixed price $250 Timeline: Initial list within 3 - 4 business days Potential follow-up work to help contact the top options.
