What is your current level of experience in freelance work?
We’ve been working on a custom fitness product, a resistance-based arm trainer focused on biceps and upper body movement, and we’re now ready to build a functional prototype. We already have a mechanical engineer handling all CAD and design iterations, so we’re specifically looking for someone who can take the finalized design files and build the prototype. The product is primarily made from bent metal pipes, so pipe bending is required. It also includes a few 3D printed components, foam padding for the handles (off-the-shelf foam is fine), and a spring mechanism. This doesn’t need to be a polished or cosmetically finished version — just something fully functional so we can test the movement, resistance, and overall feel. Custom molds are not needed at this stage. We’re simply looking for a working prototype (or a few) to test function before moving into manufacturing overseas. For the initial build, the handles can be fully metal, and the foam grips can be cut from off-the-shelf materials. The build will involve accurate pipe bending and cutting, assembling metal and 3D printed parts, adding foam grips, and integrating a spring-loaded resistance mechanism. Once assembled, the prototype would be shipped to us for hands-on testing. Regarding budget, we’ll provide the design files and then ask for a scope of work and timeline before moving forward. Ideally, we’re looking to move quickly on this. Please start your proposal with your favorite exercise or activity at the gym. Thanks!
