Audiobook Sound Engineer for Consulting Advice
I am a Virginia-based author with a book "live" on Amazon. I want to record it as an audiobook, with myself as narrator, and list it as a companion offering on Audible. I have some background in public speaking, acting and musical performance, but no experience in the technical aspects. I've set up a home studio on a modest budget and have begun exploring the Audacity and Descript software packages. I've already put quite a few hours into practice narration but am concerned that my equipment set-up and audio skills will not produce the quality I want. Before I spend the many necessary hours recording, I'd like to first consult with someone experienced in audiobook production (perhaps on a Zoom call?) about the best path forward. I'm open to ideas and willing to pay for some initial hours of consultation to move toward my goal of an excellent quality audiobook file, uploaded to Amazon Audible within the next several months.
