I’m seeking an experienced mechanical engineer or industrial product designer to help bring a patent-pending mobility product to life. The concept involves a convertible outdoor product that must support two different modes. The design must prioritize safety, ergonomics, stability, and material durability, with a focus on weight-bearing performance and convertibility. Your role: • Translate a conceptual mockup and written brief into detailed 3D CAD models • Design mechanisms that allow for smooth transformation between modes • Recommend appropriate materials (e.g., rust-resistant metals, high-durability joints) • Ensure the structure can support a combined load of at least 300 lbs • Provide .STP or .SLDPRT files along with clear visual renders or diagrams • Optional: prepare files for 3D prototyping Ideal candidate: • Strong background in mechanical or industrial design • Proven experience with load-bearing consumer products (e.g. mobility devices, furniture, baby gear) • Familiar with ergonomic and safety standards • Communicates clearly and can explain technical decisions to a non-engineer client • Bonus: Experience with outdoor or convertible gear Deliverables: • 3D CAD files and drawings • Mechanical function summary • Material and part recommendations • Revisions as needed for prototyping prep
