Fundraising Strategy Consultant for Nonprofit Organization Organization: Southside Center of Hope Location: Chicago, IL (Remote applicants welcome) Job Type: Freelance / Consultant Start Date: As soon as possible Compensation: Based on experience and project scope About Us Southside Center of Hope is a nonprofit organization based in Chicago. Since 1983, we have been committed to empowering women and children in underserved communities through stable housing and a continuum of supportive services. Following the retirement of our founding leadership and recent organizational changes, we are entering a period of strategic renewal. We are now seeking expert guidance to reinvigorate our fundraising efforts and position the organization for long-term success. Project Overview We are looking to hire an experienced Fundraising Strategy Consultant to assess our current fundraising approach, identify areas of opportunity, and develop a comprehensive, actionable fundraising strategy for FY25. This role also includes donor research and cultivation support. The consultant will work closely with the Executive Director and engage with leadership and board members as needed. Scope of Work Phase I: Operational Assessment Evaluate current fundraising strategies, staffing, tools, and resources Conduct a quick audit of strategic plans, budgets, donor communications, and annual reports Assess organizational readiness and philanthropic positioning Phase II: Fundraising Strategy Development Perform a gap analysis and identify donor pipeline and market trends Establish bold but achievable fundraising goals for FY25 Recommend strategies to activate and engage the Board of Directors in fundraising Deliver a detailed, ready-to-implement fundraising strategy document Ongoing Implementation and Support Facilitate weekly strategic planning sessions with the leadership team Conduct donor research and develop a targeted cultivation strategy Provide coaching and draft communication tools for board and staff (emails, call scripts, donor engagement materials) Develop a strategic donor acquisition and re-engagement plan based on donor trends Assist with implementation of fundraising campaigns and appeals Create donor profiles using advanced research tools Support light training and staff development (with a view to hiring a Development Director once the strategy is in place) Ideal Candidate Proven track record of success in nonprofit fundraising and strategy development Strong donor research and prospecting experience Excellent communication and coaching skills Ability to work collaboratively with leadership and board members Experience with campaign planning, donor communications, and board development Passion for social impact and community-based work How to Apply Please submit your proposal including: A brief cover letter detailing your relevant experience Samples or summaries of past fundraising strategies or plans you’ve developed An outline of your proposed approach to this project Estimated timeline and fee structure
