Hi there, I’m looking for a developer to handle several key issues and improvements for my website, Rentago, a peer-to-peer platform for renting, selling, and posting jobs. Some features aren’t working as expected or were beyond AI capabilities, so I need someone experienced to step in and get the site running smoothly. Here’s a breakdown of what I need: ⸻ Priority Fixes and Features 1. Remove Debug Banner • There’s a debug bar at the top of the site that needs to be removed entirely. 2. Admin Account • Set up a full admin account for me with the ability to: • Delete any listing, comment, or review • Manage users and content site-wide • Please ensure it’s secure from hacking — either through built-in security measures or by allowing strong password creation. 3. Location Feature Overhaul • The zip code-based location system needs to work correctly across the site. • It should: • Link to user profiles during sign-up • Be displayed under each listing • Filter listings accurately by zip • Distance-based filters (e.g., “within 10 miles”) must also work properly and show accurate results. 4. Categories & Filters Functionality • “Popular Categories” should only show items related to the selected category (e.g., Tools should only show tools). • All filter options under Rent, Buy, and Jobs should work correctly: • Price filters (e.g., “under $50”) must filter correctly • Distance filters must function accurately • Listings should only appear in the correct category (no mixing Rent, Buy, and Jobs). 5. Search Bar Accuracy • The search bar needs to return accurate and relevant results based on what’s typed. 6. Messaging System • Messaging needs to be fully functional: • Users should be able to message each other from listings • The “Contact Owner” button must open a working chat • A “Request in Advance” button should be added next to the messaging button 7. Notifications Tab • Notifications should display clearly and accurately • Remove the double “X” and just say “Close” • If a user makes a request, the owner must be notified properly 8. Saved Listings • If a user saves a listing, it should appear in their Saved section 9. Social Sharing • Allow users to share listings via basic social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc.) 10. Image Uploading • Users should be able to upload images for both listings and profile pictures 11. User-Linking & Display • Listings, comments, and reviews should show the user who posted them • Clicking on the user should take you to their profile 12. Customizable Listing Info & Policy • Listers should be able to customize details and policies of their listings 13. Job Listings Page • Job listings don’t currently work — a new posting page needs to be created with the same style as the others 14. Category Labels Fix • Some listings are showing as “Sale” even when they’re rentals or jobs — ensure each listing type is displayed correctly 15. Distance Accuracy • Fix the location/distance display — it’s currently showing incorrect miles between zip codes 16. Remove Listing ID Display • Remove any exposed listing IDs from the frontend 17. Footer & Static Pages • Add social links for Rentago in the footer • Create these pages: • About • Help • Contact (Include email + all socials — I can give you content or you can use ChatGPT) 18. Email Visibility Settings • Let users choose to hide/show their email on their profile 19. Reviews Display • All reviews received should be visible on a user’s profile 20. Public Profile Viewer Page • Create a viewable version of profiles so other users can see: • Listings • Comments • Reviews • Basic info 21. Listings on Profile Page • Ensure listings show up correctly under the category they were listed as in the user’s profile 22. Category Tags Layout Fix • The “Sale” tag is covering listing names. Move the category badge to the opposite side so it doesn’t overlap If interested I can add you to the ai to view the code files it made, if I’m being honest some are junky some are actually good, overall it’s pretty mid for how well they are arranged, shouldn’t take but a few days, I am also open to sharing part of the company, 5% for doing this, so you’ll make 5% of whatever I make.
