⸻ Job Title: Grant Writer Needed (Budget: $500) for Memoir on Black Mental Health, Addiction & Redemption Job Description: I’m seeking a skilled grant writer to help secure funding for my completed memoir, Do Black Men Cry? This deeply personal story explores Black male mental health, addiction, incarceration, grief, and healing. It’s a powerful, raw, and redemptive journey intended to spark conversation and create cultural impact. Total Grant Funding Goal: $30,000–$40,000 to cover: • Professional editing and proofreading • PR/Marketing (working with Pam Perry, Karen Hunter, and others) • Publishing, printing, and wide distribution • Bulk sales and outreach to Black media outlets Scope of Work (Budget: $500 for this job): • Research and provide a list of active grants open now that align with my project (memoir, Black authors, mental health, addiction, storytelling, cultural arts) • Write and prepare 2–3 full grant applications • Help craft any required materials (e.g. artist statement, author bio, project summary) • Advise on the best grants to pursue first Ideal Grant Writer: • Proven experience writing successful grants (especially for authors, cultural/literary works, or social justice initiatives) • Familiarity with grants supporting Black writers, mental health advocacy, or addiction recovery • Strong writing, attention to detail, and can work within deadlines • Passionate about real stories that make real impact Budget: $500 fixed for initial project.
