Looking to hire a professional writer to help with story development and script writing for a comedic stage play. Working Title: "Death & Taxes." Tag Line: It's the most fun you've ever had at a funeral. Form: The form is immersive theater in which we try to blur the lines between the live actors and the audience. It's a live play (approx. 75% scripted 25% improv) which unfolds in a shared space around the audience. The most famous examples of an immersive theater are probably "Sleep No More" and "Tony & Tina's Wedding" which were both staged in NYC. The premise of this project is that the audience has arrived to attend the wake and eulogy of a wealthy and powerful business man surrounded by his dysfunctional friends and family, each of whom is complicating his legacy and angling for their fair share of the inheritance. It culminates in a formal memorial service in front of an open casket in which the attorney of the deceased reads the Living Will and Trust revealing who gets what and why. Note: This is *not" a murder mystery nor a who-done-it. Status: At this point, it's a self-funded passion project. I've developed some characters and am working through the first draft of the script. What I need from you: - Story Architecture: Help define the overall story. Help map a bunch of scenes into a cohesive and entertaining narrative that leaves the audience feeling satisfied. - Ideation: Come up with entertaining scene ideas ( 3-5 sentences each) that push the story forward. -Character Development: Flesh out the six (6) main characters by helping to define who they are, what they want and why. -Scriptwriting: Take a pre-existing scene idea (3-5 sentences) and develop that into a detailed 4-7 page scene with action and dialogue that elevates the comedic sub-text and drives the story forward.
