We're a small, fast-paced aerospace manufacturing team looking for a developer to help us automate the conversion of consistent engineering wire data (in PDF format) into standardized Excel planning documents. Our goal is to save time, reduce manual errors, and eventually expand the tool to include automatic Bill of Materials (BOM) generation. Project Summary: • Extract structured wire data from consistently formatted PDFs • Output data into a standardized Excel template • (Phase 2) Generate a Bill of Materials from extracted wire/cable data Must-Have Skills: • Strong experience with Python PDF parsing (PyMuPDF, pdfplumber, etc.) • Proficiency with Excel generation via openpyxl, xlsxwriter, or similar • Experience writing clean, documented, and modular scripts • Ability to parse consistent but unstructured text using regex or layout mapping Nice-to-Have: • Familiarity with GUI tools (Tkinter, Streamlit) or lightweight web interfaces (Flask) • Experience in manufacturing/aerospace/Electro-mechanical environments • BOM logic, part mapping, or data normalization experience Deliverables: • Working script or app that allows our team to upload a PDF and download a formatted Excel • Code documentation and short user guide • Optional: BOM generation logic that maps cable and component types to part numbers Timeline: • Flexible budget • Project is ready to start now • First version (PDF to Excel) should be completed within ~2 weeks To Apply: Please include: • A short note about your relevant experience • Example projects or GitHub repo links if available • Your estimate for timeline and cost for Phase 1 (PDF → Excel)
