fix iOS App API .htaccess problem

I have an iOS app that has been working fine for years. Starting 1-2 days ago, the app no longer works. First, new accounts could not be created. Now app crashes at launch and is totally not usable. I believe Hostgator modified something on my VPS server they should not have which broke my App (the .htaccess file in the API directory is what I think is the issue) when I asked them to add Ruby on Rails support to my VPS. I need the API and App fixed ASAP - this is an emergency - the only way I can think of how the current live version of the app that has been working fine suddenly stopped working is if something happened to the API files and/or the .htaccess file
