I am assisting a "low tech" small business client of mine with hiring a full-stack PHP/MySQL/jscript/CSS/web developer. The website is custom-written PHP, not very complex code-wise, but has a few bugs to fix and features/tweaks the client would like to add. This is most likely going to be a long-term relationship as new features and tweaks will most likely be needed for a few years into the future. There is not a ton of work to do to fix the existing problems today. Basically you'll be taking up bug fixing and possibly long-term maintenance and new features for a small-biz custom website. Their existing dev agency has dropped the ball and become a completely unresponsive black hole so we need to migrate off their hosting servers asap before they implode. There were no frameworks involved in the project - just straight up PHP, some javascript/jQuery, pretty straightforward CSS, and some not-very-complex db queries to a pretty simple MySQL database. We also need help picking a good hosting company to migrate the website from the current host. I'm interested in hearing your suggestions here. This is not a high-throughput website/db so they have very light webhost requirements. You'll need to setup web hosting, deploy the website and migrate the database. I can get a SQL backup for you, that's covered. I have actually done all that to a test webhost which is working great so... pretty straightforward. But we need a new permanent production web host. I can take care of the DNS settings needed. I have set up a github repository with the source code so that's all ready to go. The code is really messy, formatting wise and needs to be cleaned up. You will be working with me, I am an asp.net full-stack guy so I understand all the concepts, I just don't know PHP well at all. My role is more of an IT type for this project, helping them deal with their immediate problems and fixing a few critical bugs and working as their liaison to you. I will work with them on creating good bug reports with reproducible scenarios and well-described bug fixes/feature requests so dealing with the client's lack of tech knowledge won't be an issue. We've got a Trello board set up with all the issues detailed and prioritized so we can coordinate tasks that way.
