Chamber Orchestra of New York is an 18-year-old professional orchestra based in New York. We maintain an annual concert series at Carnegie Hall, and our Naxos Records albums air worldwide to critical acclaim. The orchestra is also the go-to ensemble for major international brands and their lofty productions. Mission statement: Chamber Orchestra of New York is an independent, premier ensemble founded to showcase a seasoned roster of our city’s most flourishing musicians. The orchestra is internationally distinguished for championing 20th century repertoire that bridges the classical and modern traditions, including iconic film music, with premieres and Naxos recordings of rediscovered masterworks such as its championing of the music of Ottorino Respighi. Through all-embracing approaches with its distinct programs – from its Carnegie Hall series to special events, and educational outreach – the orchestra aims to cultivate a broader audience across generations for the future of classical music. … Development Manager opening (part time): We are looking to engage a grants writer who will lead as our Development Manager, for all grants and patron development. This part time position pays $75/hour. ROLE - active prospecting of new grant opportunities (foundation/government/corporate) - reporting on current grant portfolio - maintaining and updating a rolling grants calendar, citing both application opportunities and ongoing reports/re-submissions - developing and improving donor relationship strategies, both for individual and institutional donors - cultivating young patrons for the Orchestra and possibly designing a young patrons circle - fine-tuning / creating compelling boilerplate language to describe the full range of programming and activities - preparing periodic updates on development-related activity and progress - leveraging board connections and networks to grow donor portfolio - occasional if not regular attendance of Orchestra concerts and events, greeting and cultivating donors and patrons, working at a check-in table when needed - collaborating with the Orchestra Manager and Marketing Manager to maximize impact of social media, web, and e-newsletter communication from a development perspective - collaborating with the Orchestra Manager and Music Director to maximize impact of grant writing and administration To learn more about the orchestra, please visit: https://chamberorchestraofnewyork.org/
