Excel whiz, simple script to manipulate data

I have an excel list of 250 papers with 1-15 authors each. I would like to end up with a list of authors, and a list of the number of papers they wrote Currently the fields are Paper ID, Paper name, authors, date of publication etc. I need the same list by author -- if the names and dates of the publications each author wrote could be included, that would be a huge plus. Loading this file into a simple filemaker database would be extremely helpful also but not necessary. Sample file attached.
