Position Summary: The RFP Writer is responsible for managing the RFP response process from start to finish and developing high-quality, compelling proposals that secure new business opportunities. This role requires strong project management skills, excellent writing and editing abilities, and a deep understanding of the Clean Energy sector. The RFP Writer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather information, develop content, and ensure timely submission of compliant and persuasive proposals. Responsibilities: • RFP Process Management: o Manage the end-to-end RFP response process, including initial review, go/no-go decisions, task assignments, and submission. o Develop and maintain a detailed project plan for each RFP, ensuring adherence to deadlines and milestones. o Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., Sales, Business Development, Technical Experts, Finance, Legal) to gather necessary information and ensure timely completion of tasks. o Maintain RFP tracking and reporting to provide visibility into proposal status and outcomes. o Ensure compliance with RFP requirements and formatting guidelines. • Content Development & Writing: o Write clear, concise, and persuasive proposal content that effectively communicates our company's value proposition, technical capabilities, and experience. o Edit and proofread proposal documents to ensure accuracy, consistency, and professional quality. o Develop compelling executive summaries, technical approaches, management plans, and other key proposal sections. o Tailor proposal content to address the specific needs and requirements of each RFP. o Maintain a library of reusable content and templates to improve efficiency. • Collaboration & Communication: o Facilitate kick-off meetings and regular status meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration among team members. o Conduct interviews with subject matter experts to gather technical information and develop accurate and compelling content. o Work closely with Sales and Business Development to understand client needs and develop win strategies. o Communicate effectively with external partners and subcontractors when required. • Strategic Input: o Analyze RFP requirements and evaluation criteria to identify key win themes and develop compelling proposals. o Contribute to the development of proposal strategies and solutions. o Stay up-to-date on industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities in the Clean Energy sector. o Identify opportunities to improve the RFP response process and increase win rates. Qualifications: • Minimum 3 + years of experience in RFP writing, proposal development, or a related field, preferably in the Clean Energy sector. • Proven track record of successfully managing and writing winning proposals for government (federal and state) and commercial clients. • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a strong attention to detail. • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. • Technical aptitude and the ability to understand complex technical concepts. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Preferred Qualifications: • Experience responding to RFPs related to energy efficiency programs. • Experience with proposal management software. We currently use Loopio.
