Job Description: I’m looking for a highly skilled InDesign guru to design a 20+ page catalog for Distinctive Details — a brand known for, well, the details! This isn’t a simple plug-and-play project. It requires tenacity, print design expertise, and a deep understanding of type styles, layout hierarchy, and efficiency within InDesign. https://distinctivedetailsinc.com/ We’re talking: - Clean, consistent use of character and paragraph styles (yes, the actual styles panel—not just manual tweaks) - A well-structured file that can be easily updated via style changes - Thoughtful layout design that balances a lot of information without looking chaotic - Strong attention to typographic spacing, alignment, and visual flow - Creative problem-solving for infographics and callouts — you’ll be turning data and product specs into easy-to-digest visuals that still feel on-brand and cohesive The catalog will include: - Hundreds of small product descriptions and SKUs - Variety of layouts spanning between products and large typography based layouts - Approximately 20 pages, possibly more Important: You’ll be prepping your own work for print, including setting up final print-ready files with bleeds, crops, and color profiles. You may also collaborate with the printer to design and position custom page tabs for easy navigation in the printed version. You must be: - Extremely comfortable in Adobe InDesign (not Illustrator, not Canva – InDesign). Final deliverable is your INDD file, with LAYERS - Detail-oriented and self-sufficient – able to manage lots of content without getting overwhelmed - Comfortable working with large volume of assets - A print designer at heart – you understand margins, bleeds, CMYK, and prepping for press Bonus if you: - Have experience designing catalogs, lookbooks, or spec sheets - Enjoy designing infographics, charts, and technical visuals in a way that’s visually engaging - Love obsessing over grid systems and micro-alignment - Can offer art direction, OR are happy to work within my creative direction – I’m flexible depending on your strengths To apply, please include: - A few examples of print/catalog layout projects you’ve designed in InDesign - A sentence or two on your approach to organizing styles and layout hierarchy - Your availability and timeline for the next few weeks This is a project for someone who lives in InDesign and gets excited by structure, order, and great design. If you actually read this please start your response with a car emoji I will only read those ones. Bonus: There is potential for ongoing freelance opportunities with our creative agency. We’re always looking for talented, reliable designers to help with overflow work on branding, layout, and print projects. If that sounds like your vibe, I’d love to hear from you!
