Senior Unity Game Developer (Baseball-Focused) Location: Remote (Preference for candidates with experience working with international teams, especially in India) Job Type: Contract Compensation: Competitive, based on experience About the Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Unity Game Developer with a deep understanding of baseball mechanics and an expert eye for design and detail to lead the development of an engaging, high-quality mobile game. This role is ideal for a developer who is not only a technical expert in Unity and C# but also an exceptional communicator, adept at managing project timelines, leading cross-functional teams, and designing engaging reward mechanics and point systems that enhance player retention and engagement. Bonus points if you have experience working with international teams, especially in India. Key Responsibilities Game Development: Architect, develop, and optimize high-performance, visually stunning baseball-themed experiences in Unity (C#). Technical Leadership: Guide the engineering team in implementing game mechanics, AI behavior, UI/UX, and animations that authentically replicate baseball dynamics. Design Collaboration: Work closely with designers and artists to ensure a polished, immersive experience with intuitive gameplay. Reward Mechanics & Engagement Systems: Design and implement point systems, in-game rewards, progression mechanics, and achievement structures to maximize player motivation and retention. Project Management: Set and manage development timelines, sprints, and milestones to ensure timely delivery. Team Leadership: Lead and mentor developers, both locally and internationally, fostering a productive and collaborative development environment. Code Quality & Optimization: Write clean, efficient, and scalable code while optimizing performance for mobile platforms (iOS/Android). Communication: Serve as the technical bridge between designers, developers, and stakeholders, ensuring clear expectations and smooth workflow. International Team Coordination: Effectively manage time zones, work styles, and collaboration with offshore teams (especially India-based development teams). Requirements 5+ years of Unity (C#) development experience in mobile or console game development. Must have a strong understanding of baseball rules, mechanics, and gameplay flow (either through personal experience or prior projects). Demonstrated expertise in game physics, AI, animation systems, UI/UX implementation, and economy balancing in Unity. Experience designing and implementing reward systems, progression mechanics, and point-based incentives to enhance player engagement. Experience leading game development teams and managing project timelines. Excellent communication skills—ability to clearly convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Experience working with remote and international teams (especially India-based teams). Strong debugging, profiling, and performance optimization skills. Familiarity with multiplayer networking in Unity is a plus. Passion for creating engaging and immersive gameplay experiences. Preferred Qualifications Experience working with offshore teams, especially in India. Shipped at least one high-quality game (preferably sports-related) on mobile or console. Proficiency in Agile/Scrum methodologies and project management tools like Jira, Trello, or Asana. Experience with backend integration (Firebase, PlayFab, or similar). Knowledge of player psychology, gamification techniques, and player retention strategies. Understanding of shaders, rendering pipelines, and Unity’s Data-Oriented Tech Stack (DOTS) is a plus.
