Privileged Access Management (PAM) Architect Job Description Experience Level: 12–14 Years Location: San Jose, CA (Onsite – Client Office, Bay Area) Employment Type: Contract Rate: $75–$100 per hour (W2/C2C) ________________________________________ Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Privileged Access Management (PAM) Architect to lead the design, implementation, and optimization of enterprise-grade PAM solutions for a high-profile client in the Bay Area. This role is critical to enhancing the organization’s security posture, ensuring the protection of privileged identities, and enforcing least-privilege access principles across the enterprise. The ideal candidate will have 12–14 years of overall experience with significant focus on PAM architecture and deployment in complex, enterprise environments. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities: • PAM Strategy and Roadmap: o Provide expert guidance in developing and refining the organization’s PAM strategy, framework, and roadmap. o Define scalable, secure, and compliant PAM architecture aligned with industry best practices and organizational needs. • Discovery and Assessment: o Conduct comprehensive discovery and analysis of privileged access use cases across various business units and technical teams. o Identify, inventory, and categorize privileged accounts, credentials, applications, service accounts, and systems within the PAM scope. • Stakeholder Collaboration: o Engage with cross-functional stakeholders including application owners, infrastructure teams, security teams, and business units to understand access workflows, gaps, and risk areas. o Translate business and technical requirements into actionable PAM design specifications. • Solution Design and Implementation: o Design and architect tailored PAM solutions based on enterprise requirements, security controls, and compliance mandates. o Map PAM use cases to specific capabilities within tools such as CyberArk, BeyondTrust, Delinea, or other leading solutions. o Ensure PAM solutions are integrated effectively with existing IAM, ITSM, SIEM, and directory services. • Documentation and Governance: o Develop detailed technical documentation, architecture diagrams, and configuration guides. o Define PAM governance, policies, onboarding workflows, and access review processes. • Technology Expertise: o Provide thought leadership on modern PAM approaches including credential vaulting, session monitoring, password rotation, just-in-time (JIT) access, and privilege elevation. o Stay current with emerging technologies and regulatory requirements related to access security. ________________________________________ Required Qualifications: • 12–14 years of overall IT experience with at least 5+ years of specialized experience in PAM architecture and engineering. • Proven experience implementing and managing PAM tools like CyberArk (Preferred), BeyondTrust, Delinea (Thycotic). • Deep understanding of privileged access risks, compliance requirements (SOX, HIPAA, PCI, etc.), and security controls. • Strong background in Identity & Access Management (IAM), Active Directory, Windows/Linux environments, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP). • Experience integrating PAM solutions with enterprise applications, DevOps pipelines, and automation workflows. • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and documentation skills. ________________________________________ Additional Details: • Location Requirement: Candidate must be located in or willing to relocate to the Bay Area. This is an onsite role at the client’s office in San Jose, CA. • Working Hours: Full-time (standard business hours). • Rate: $75–$100/hour (based on experience and interview performance).
