Job Description: We are seeking an experienced database professional to help us merge two small existing databases into one unified database and migrate them from our current hosting platform to a new environment (e.g., Microsoft Azure or a similar cloud platform). This project is critical for ensuring that our Wix-based website continues to operate seamlessly with secure, uninterrupted customer logins. Key Responsibilities: • Database Analysis & Planning: • Review and analyze the structure of the two existing databases. • Develop a comprehensive plan to merge the databases, ensuring data consistency, integrity, and minimal downtime. • Data Migration & Integration: • Merge the two databases into one, ensuring that all customer data—including usernames and passwords—are accurately transferred without any alterations. • Migrate the unified database to a new hosting platform (Azure or similar), ensuring that the new environment is configured for optimal performance and security. • Wix Website Integration: • Integrate the new unified database with our Wix website. • Investigate the need for an API or any other integration methods from Wix to the database to enable seamless, secure login functionality. • Ensure that the integration maintains the same login credentials so that existing customers experience a smooth transition without needing to reset passwords or update profiles. • Security & Validation: • Implement best practices for data security during and after the migration process. • Test the system thoroughly to ensure all data has migrated accurately and that customer logins function securely. • Provide detailed documentation on the migration process, database structure, and any API or integration steps implemented. • Support & Communication: • Work closely with our technical team to understand current limitations and future requirements. • Offer post-migration support to address any potential issues and ensure smooth operation. Qualifications: • Proven experience with database migration and integration projects. • Familiarity with cloud hosting platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure or similar services. • Prior experience working with Wix integrations and APIs. • Strong understanding of data security best practices, especially regarding user authentication and password handling. • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. • Ability to deliver clear documentation and effective communication throughout the project. Project Details: • The databases in question are relatively small, so while performance isn’t a primary concern, data accuracy and security are paramount. • The successful candidate will ensure that all existing user credentials are preserved during the migration so that customers can log in seamlessly after the transition. • We are looking for a proactive professional who can also advise on any necessary API integrations with Wix to further streamline login procedures.
