IBM Power Systems Contractor (3-Day Engagement) Position: • IBM Power Systems Contractor (AIX focus) Location: • On-site (Customer’s Data Center). • Ashburn, Virginia, 20147 • Local candidates preferred; however, travel expenses will be paid for non-local candidates Engagement Type: • Short-term Contract – 3 days Budget: • Up to $150/hr. Start Date: • Feb 17th Overview: We are seeking an experienced IBM Power Systems contractor to execute a 3-day engagement focused on deploying an IBM Power System in a Disaster Recovery (DR) environment. The scope of work includes AIX LPAR deployment, VIOS configuration, and NIM setup in DR. Responsibilities: • Review project scope, existing infrastructure, and validate resource requirements (hardware, software, licensing, network access). • Define architecture for LPAR creation, VIOS setup, and AIX deployment. • Plan storage assignments for the FS9500 and ensure journaling requirements are documented. • Establish project timeline and coordinate tasks with the customer’s team. • Deploy and configure AIX LPARs on the IBM Power System. • Install and configure dual VIOS to provide virtual I/O services. • Deploy NIM Server in DR as an AIX LPAR and sync installation resources from production NIM. • Establish system monitoring, implement failover readiness, and configure networking. • Define and document backup policies and processes. • Perform verification and failover testing to validate DR readiness. • Document all configurations, processes, and validation results. • Conduct knowledge transfer session with customer’s team. • Finalize project review and obtain customer approval for deliverables. Required Skills & Experience: • 5+ years of experience with IBM Power Systems administration, including AIX LPAR deployment. • Expertise in VIOS installation and configuration. • Experience setting up and managing NIM servers in AIX environments. • Strong understanding of storage and networking integration in IBM Power environments. • Ability to create clear technical documentation and provide knowledge transfer. • Prior experience with disaster recovery planning and failover validation preferred. Deliverables: • Fully configured AIX LPARs and VIOS on the IBM Power System. • Deployed and functional NIM server in DR with replicated installation resources. • Validated monitoring, failover, and backup strategy. • Complete technical documentation and final customer handover. This is a fixed 3-day engagement with clearly defined deliverables. The contractor is expected to work efficiently and independently while coordinating with the customer’s team.
