I'm a NYC-based designer building a small luxury brand and looking for a freelance seamstress or sample maker to assist with ongoing made-to-order garments. Our brand is focused on timeless capsule collections inspired by emotion and aimed at accentuating the wearer without distracting from them. All of our fabrics are European/Eastern European made, ethical and organic, including our threads. The designs are simple but sophisticated. - Experience working with silk and delicate fabrics required to a high degree - Comfortable with highly skilled professional-quality finishing - Based in NYC/NJ (local preferred) - Must be okay working without a full tech pack (I provide patterns and studio photos) and some verbal adjustments as needed - Flexible schedule – about 1–2 pieces per month MADE TO ORDER (must be flexible with this as we are only just launching the brand and expecting very low sales to begin with and need plenty of flexibility with garments being made as ordered) Pay Range: – Cotton jersey pieces: $50–100 (fully lined but very simple pieces) – Silk pieces: $100–300 (e.g. $100 for a simple skirt, $300 for an evening dress) This is a small, ongoing freelance opportunity with potential to grow. You must be highly skilled with high end production and silk fabrics, reliable, detail-oriented, and confident in independent sewing and communication.
