Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and organized Video and Photography Specialist to capture and deliver comprehensive documentation of the Somaliland Independence Day Celebration on May 18th. This individual will be responsible for photographing and filming the event, with special attention to key cultural moments, speeches, and family photos. The final edited materials, including a short documentary, must be submitted within 24 hours after the event. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities: 1. Pre-Event Coordination: • Meet or communicate with the event organizers before the event to understand the full schedule and priorities. • Identify important speeches, performers, and family photo sessions based on organizer guidance. • Prepare and test all photography and video equipment (cameras, lenses, microphones, lights, backup memory, etc.). • Develop a detailed shot list and filming plan. 2. Photography Duties: • Take at least 200 high-quality, edited photos of the overall event, including: o Flag-raising ceremony o Traditional dances and clothing o Decorations and venue setup o Candid crowd moments o Community interactions • Take at least 100 posed family photos at a designated photo booth or area. • Ensure proper lighting, composition, and clarity in all photographs. • Organize family photos clearly by group for easy access. 3. Videography Duties: • Record: o All key speeches in full as directed by the event organizer. o All musical and cultural performances in full. o Important crowd reactions, flag ceremony, and transition scenes for storytelling. • Use external microphones or audio recorders to capture clean, professional sound. • Capture both wide angles and close-up shots for editing flexibility. 4. Post-Event Production & Delivery: • Deliver the following within 24 hours of the event’s end: o A short event documentary video (approx. 3–5 minutes) summarizing highlights. o Full-length videos of all-important speeches and music performances. o All 200+ event photos, edited and organized. o All 100 family photos, edited and labeled if required. • Provide digital access to all content via cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.). • Ensure all media is in high-resolution formats suitable for archiving or printing. ________________________________________ Requirements: • Professional experience in both photography and videography (portfolio required). • Proficiency with professional camera gear and editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Lightroom, etc.). • Ability to work under pressure and deliver a large volume of content within tight deadlines. • Excellent communication and time management skills. • Respectful of diverse cultural traditions and community events. ________________________________________ Preferred Qualifications: • Experience covering cultural events or large community gatherings. • Familiarity with Somali or Somaliland traditions is a plus. • Bilingual in Arabi, Somali and English is an asset (not required).
