About Us Democracy Works is a nonpartisan nonprofit organization that provides reliable, useful voting guidance through trusted sites, apps, and groups. Our tools like TurboVote help millions of Americans vote in elections at all levels. We're embarking on a strategic brand evolution project to strengthen our brand architecture, messaging, and visual identity. Project Overview We're seeking an experienced brand designer to support our brand evolution initiative from April to September 2025. This project involves clarifying relationships between our parent brand (Democracy Works) and sub-brands (TurboVote, VIP, etc.), developing a cohesive visual identity system, and creating implementation guidelines for digital and print applications. Responsibilities Collaborate with our marketing team to refine brand architecture recommendations Develop visual identity concepts that reflect our nonpartisan mission and values Create a comprehensive brand identity system including logo variations, typography, color palette, and visual elements Design brand guidelines document and implementation templates Provide input on website design to ensure brand consistency Support implementation across digital channels (social media, email, etc.) Create presentation materials for board and leadership meetings Requirements 5+ years of experience in brand design, with proven expertise in brand identity systems Strong portfolio demonstrating successful brand evolution/refresh projects Experience in brand strategy development and implementation Excellent understanding of brand architecture models and their applications Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (especially Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) Experience creating comprehensive brand guidelines Knowledge of digital design principles and implementation across web and mobile platforms Strong presentation skills for articulating design concepts to leadership Excellent communication and collaboration abilities Experience working with nonprofit or civic organizations preferred Project Timeline April 2025: Brand strategy development and initial concepts May 2025: Visual identity system refinement June 2025: Brand guidelines development July-September 2025: Implementation support Deliverables Brand architecture visual models Visual identity system (logos, color palette, typography, patterns) Comprehensive brand guidelines document Implementation templates for key channels Presentation materials for stakeholders Please submit your portfolio, resume, and a brief cover letter explaining your approach to brand evolution projects and why you're interested in working with Democracy Works.
